Affirmations - do they really work or are they just words?
So we’ve all been there. Reading various affirmations out loud in the hope that our lives will change for the better. Do affirmations really work or are we deluding ourselves that they have the power to bring about change?
It depends.
Are you saying them because you think it’s a good thing to do or do you really believe in them?
Affirmations are simply words if there is no corresponding action. We must be prepared to make changes in our lives to bring out the desired life that we would like for ourselves. Simply saying that you want a healthy body but then doing nothing about it = simply words.
If you desire for your body to heal itself, then you need to play your part. It cannot do it alone. You must be prepared to make changes, to build a connection to your body so you can work together to bring about the desired state of health. Simply saying an affirmation and then getting angry when nothing happens is self-defeating and essentially lacks responsibility.
We must take responsibility to our actions or lack of action. Making changes in our lives requires us to take ownership. We are the driver of our own car (aka body). You can’t blame the passenger of a car when you drive down the wrong street. You ultimately turned the wheel. You also cannot blame anyone else when you feel your life is not going in the right direction. Only you can decide that you deserve better.
We have the power to shape and create our lives. Affirmations focus on the positive. They are inspiring. They help us believe that change is possible.
So take the affirmation of your choice and decide which actions will support it. Once you take this step, watch how things suddenly start shifting in our favour. Opportunities arise, people arrive just when you need them. This is action being rewarded.
