Let’s face it, life is accelerating and it’s not much fun at times. We’re expected to be available 24/7, to live the most extraordinary lives with the most extraordinary people in the most extraordinary places on earth. Oh and don’t forget to record, blog, stream and photograph every single second of it whilst still earning a living and commuting to work.
Our nervous systems are fried and we simply don’t know what to do about it. Now this isn’t a post to solve all of your problems but perhaps these crazy times simply require us to slow down, take a step back and stop pushing. Because believe me, as long as we are engaging with the chaos we will feel the pressure to be like everyone else. Perhaps it’s time to look around you, at the people in your life. Are they happy? Are they living their best life? Or are they completely frazzled and simply surviving daily life.
If you’re reading this then perhaps you are searching for a different way to be or to simply live your life. Maybe my first recommendation would be to start reflecting on your day before going to bed. Determine which items were really essential aka going to the doctors vs folding laundry that could have waited. We create lists and then place ourselves under immense pressure to tick everything off at the end of the day. If items remain we can either simply accept it or spend the rest of the day being irritated because you didn’t achieve everything. One of these options could be considered being nice to yourself, the other isn’t. Which would you prefer? Why punish yourself for not achieving / completing / finishing when no one was either expecting or asking for it to be done. Why place yourself under such pressure? Before embarking on a task, why not pause and ask yourself if it really needs to be done in that moment / hour / day? Perhaps you could use this time to do something nice for yourself such as reading your favourite book, call a friend, go for a walk outside.. Try it and you may even smile when taking the time for yourself that you so deserve!
